Effects from WW1 in Georgia and in the U.S.
Georgia had a huge impact during World War 1 in America, but towards the end of the war, Georgia was almost left in ruins. In September of 1918, the Otranto sunk, killing around 130 Georgians out of the 370 that were on the ship. The Otranto sunk due to an outrageous storm that caused another ship, Kashmir, to veer towards the unsuspected ship. This caused the breakage of the Otranto. Also, American soldiers brought back the Spanish Flu from Europe. It caused deaths and many Americans to become seriously ill. Camp Hancock and Camp Gordon had over 3,000 cases of the flu. On the other hand, Georgia's vast majority of supplies they exported helped their economy. World War One helped Georgia in positive and negative ways.
The United States finished the war with a title of a world superpower. Even with a lose of over 100,000 Americans, they came out on top and fellow nations saw the U.S as a powerful nation. World War One stimulated the U.S economy from the major export of resources. The period after WW1 was known as "The Roaring 20's". New traditions, cultures, and ideas were brought over from European nations and influenced American ways. An example is flapper girls. These women were known for being independent and free spirited. In the end, WW1 showed other nations the United States' power.
